I started my journey in artistic endeavours early in life, raised on a farm without the distractions of our now modern life, I began drawing and sketching at a very young age. Pencils were my go to medium, usually just lead pencils, later adding in water colour pencils. I was fascinated with the versatility of the humble lead pencil and the miraculous explosion of colour that happened when you added water to the coloured image. So when it came to designing my first paper range, I instantly turned to the soft lines and colours of the hand drawn image. Then I would copy and draw elegant ladies, with elaborate hair styles, flowing dresses and pastel flowers, so it is so fitting that these too are included in Magnolia lane. So enjoy a little piece of the past with my new range Magnolia Lane -  Sue Smyth
