magic in the woods

This is a little different for me using a photo from nature, I usually like to do people, the last time we had loads of rain, (seems like we always have loads of rain) these wonderful mushrooms popped up in our local reserve, so here was my daughter and I out in the rain taking shots of them. They were quite large and very colourful. I finally used them in this layout inspired by my son's video game, I was walking past his room and it looked like a grotto on the screen and I thought that would make a lovely page, and of course the mushroom shots were the obvious choice then. I have used lots of spellbinder leaves, cut from lightweight chip, which I paint with white gesso and dab with distress ink, then emboss with UTEE, you can get many different effects this way, playing with the colours and how much you put on, you can use the inks, stains or even pens. I have such fun trying different ways of achieving that speckled and mottled effect.

Stand up layout

Here is a layout I did for Kaisercraft at Robina, it is a wonderful pop up or stand up layout, like an easel card but bigger. really so easy to make, and just decorate as normal. Of course here I have used Kaiser papers and products, but you could use any, I have also done another version for Paper trenz, each layout folds down to store in a standard pocket in your album when you have finished displaying it.

the Goddess

I finally finished a project that was a long time in the making, I love Off the page, and surrounding myself with inspiration and beautiful things, makes working in my workshop a joy. This not so little project, was a plastic torso that I had my husband cut up to form a bust. Then I have used Graphic 45 papers (and others) to paper the torso, the paper I used featured paintings of women by master artists, so I though it was appropriate to call this piece the goddess as one of the paintings on the paper, is Botticelli's Venus. The flowers are mulberry paper flowers, I love making them as they are so soft and almost luminous and great for off the page, as they can crush in an album easily. My husband made the iron stand, but you could just as well hang this on the wall, which I may do later

Vintage Layout

here are two new layouts I worked on this weekend, I am going to teach both at Paper Trenz and Stamp and Scrapbook Madness, contact them for bookings, I can not tell you how I made them, so come along and find out at class lol I was so inspired by a new blog http://machu-gotta-scrap.blogspot.com.au/ recently that I just had to include some curtains in my next layout, it is easier than you think.

yellow brick road

This a combination card and Off the page, inspired by the Crafty Secrets Wizard of Oz and using Graphic 45 Wizard of Oz papers. I love making these little tactile books that, allow you to really explore techniques and skill. They are then little keepsakes, that one day my children and grandchildren will cherish. These sort of projects are also really great for a special birthday for great friends, don't do them for people who do not appreciate what you do lol. And I know people who do these projects for people with cancer and very ill, it is a lovely thing to look at while in hospital. I have just finished a class at Paper Trenz on this, and now have scheduled a similar project about Alice in Wonderland.
