who inspires them too
 Getting to know me ...

1. What am I working on right now .

I am working on Christmas designs right now
 for the various design teams
I am on, and of course classes
but also completing a range of Inner goddess
canvases. I will be teaching these
at the stores I hold classes.

You can join me to make a smaller version of this canvas
at

2. How long does it take to create a project .
I can take days to finish a project, especially a canvas.
But a layout can take just a day. Sometimes
I can wake up with a project visualized in my mind
and can work really quickly.
other times like everybody I can struggle to make a
bunch of products to work with me.

This layout for instance was in my head and came easily

3. What are my fave things I love to create with at the moment

I have two kind of things I create,
one is little neat paper crafted fripperies.
Kind of a 3 D card.
The other type of thing I like to create is a
Mixed media project either
a canvas, off the page or layout. I am either neat or messy,
I can do both types of work, so I am usually
using stencils, spray mists, chipboard and dies.

4. How does my creating process work
Whether I have a complete concept in my mind or not,
I usually do up a sketch of my idea.
So when I have a project to do for a design team. commission
or class I refer to my book of sketches.
I don't start with a photo, I usually start with a concept and
choose the photo that will suit the best, tie it in with a technique
and product. I like to think of other ways to do things,
like what if I.....and use products in ways they were not intended.

like old paint brushes

or lots of chipboard as a background

5. How do I become inspired and stay inspired .
I am inspired by everything, it can be a TV show, nature,
fashion anything that I see that pleases me and gives me
an idea. I will always jot this down for later use.
I keep a large note book
always handy. Recently I was inspired by the
Maleficent the movie and
can see a layout using the rich teals and gold of the
gowns in the movie.
Other ways I stay inspired is blogs,
web and other designers.
None of us can design in a vacuum, so I always
take great creative mojo from what I see around me.
A lot of the time one project feeds off another
as I will come up
with further concepts while completing one.

These two shoes came from the same idea,
I just thought of another theme
to use for the second one, as in the ruby slippers in the
Wizard of Oz

6. What is my signature style
My style has changed over the years
and I am not really
the best person to ask "what my style is" It just is..
However my students and peers always
say they can recognize my
work, so I must have one.
To me I guess it is Busy, shabby chic meets
 mixed media.
I tend not to be grungy, love prettiness, flowers,
bling and glitter. Love
my layers and painterly effects.
I approach each project like a painting and use
so many of my skills from Art college days
I kind of see each project as a mini painting.

My Favourite projects are often the ones that take the longest time
to make
