Christmas in July
Tri fold card
by Sue Smyth

Hi all
Today I am sharing a Christmas in July project. I love
a Tri-fold card as it gives you more room to use
 all of your Couture Creations
dies and papers.

When you untie the seam binding, the card
folds out to reveal the inside.

I have die cut the Joy die in two colours and
covered with glitter, see the little how to below.

Inside you can layer over top several images and
fussy cut shapes.

The black and white vintage images are just perfect for
a Tri-fold card

You might not think that blue and white and red and green
would go together but as you can see they look wonderful
and are a nice contrast, I have added red 2mm Rhinestones
over the wreath for dimension.

The Amaryliss die has slots in it that are perfect
for threading seam binding through for
a soft look.

Add the tiny pearls in your pack one at a time
for a lovely border

I have snipped the paper lace at the fold
to allow it to fold up with out a drama.

Cut white cardstock using the panels as a guide to make
a fold out card.

Trim out the panels you want, wipe
dimensional magic over the edges and
dip into white glitter.

Die cut Joy in white cardstock.

Use the letter shapes to die cut
out the J and Y only.

Now die cut the O in a blue cardstock.
Layer over top with 3 D foam tape.
I have covered the whole thing in white glitter too.

Beautiful layout and
Gothic mini canvas and trinket box

by Sue Smyth

Today I am sharing a few of my recent projects.
The first one is a layout, I wanted a vintage look with
a modern mixed media twist.

To alter the frame I have embossed with gold utee or thick
embossing powder, apply two coats, while hot
add sprinkles of white utee, then swirl the white utee
with a pointed metal tool.

Don't over over work it and you will achieve a neat
swirled effect, similar to copper enameling.
You can follow the step by steps below to
do the same.

Paint flowers and seam binding with dylusions and inks
so they match nicely.

I love to snip up chipboard elements, often even the
smallest fragment can be used.

Tuck halves under the frame, to make your chipboard
go further. A simple way to alter chipboard
is to spray it matt black, when dry
rub over with thick gold paint.

I have added a rhinestone border, and softened the look
with a rub over with copper paint .

Apply 2 coats of thick gold Utee.
While hot sprinkle with white Utee.

Use a metal tool to swirl the white Utee
into the gold Utee.
Allow to cool.

Game of Thrones Mini Canvas

This another of my mini canvases, this time with
a Game of Thrones theme.

I have used the knight chipboard set, which
inspired me to replicate the iron throne!

All of the swords and knight are embossed
with aged silver embossing powder

I have added painted roses and lots of metal
trinkets

The compass that the Throne sits on is
sprayed matt black with spray paint and
then rubbed over with thick gold paint.
I have added a border of gold rhinestones all
around for a rich look.

Gothic Trinket Box

My next project is a Gothic Trinket box.
Initially this was a box that I had ruined
while making another project.
I had thought I would throw it away.

But decided to try to save the box instead, see
my steps below.
I love to add small pearls to chipboard, to
do this you need to snip up a strip of pearls
and adhere one by one. Yes it is
tedious but the effect is awesome!

To start with I have applied texture paste to the
top of the box and painted it all
with black gesso.

I have covered the bracket frames with gold utee,
with 2 coats to get a nice finish.
While hot spray with Dylusions or inks,
continue to heat set for a minute to
dry off the ink.
The effect is a mottled gold with
a super aged look.
Blot off excess when cool.

This is the hideous colour of the box
before I started.

Inside is decorated too, I have torn
book pages to line the inside and added
a chip panel to the window

Then paint all over with black
gesso, this fixes everything! lol

And add a few trinkets and vio la a gothic trinket box!
